Insulated Glass Units

Insulated glass units, also known as IG units, are designed to improve energy performance, interior comfort, and glazing efficiency in residential and commercial projects.

By combining two or more glass panes with a sealed airspace, IG units can help reduce heat transfer and support more efficient windows, doors, storefronts, curtain walls, and other architectural glazing systems.

Available configurations include standard dual-glazed and triple-glazed units, with options such as low-E glass, reflective glass, laminated glass, textured glass, spandrel glass, tinted glass, and other specialty glass combinations. Insulated units can also be supplied with standard or sculptured grids, depending on the desired appearance.

Spacer options include aluminum spacers and Super Spacer® systems, allowing architects, glaziers, contractors, and builders to select the configuration that best supports the project’s thermal performance, solar control, privacy, safety, acoustic needs, and design requirements.

IG Unit Manufacturing Capabilities

Insulated glass units can be fabricated in a range of sizes for different window, door, storefront, and architectural glazing applications.

Available manufacturing capabilities include:

  • Dual-glazed insulated glass units
  • Triple-glazed insulated glass units
  • Standard grids
  • Sculptured grids
  • Aluminum spacers
  • Super Spacer® systems
  • Low-E glass combinations
  • Reflective glass combinations
  • Laminated glass combinations
  • Textured glass combinations
  • Spandrel glass combinations
  • Residential and commercial configurations

Size Capabilities

  • Maximum size: 137” x 98”
  • Minimum size: 6” x 6”

Final unit availability may depend on glass type, thickness, configuration, spacer selection, overall unit size, performance requirements, and fabrication limitations.

Insulated glass units can be used across a wide range of architectural glazing systems, including:

  • Storefront systems
  • Curtain wall systems
  • Sliding aluminum doors
  • Glass door systems
  • All-glass entrance door systems
  • Window systems
  • Handrail systems, when applicable
  • Shower and specialty glass applications, when project requirements allow

Because IG units are often part of a larger glazing assembly, compatibility with the frame, opening, system depth, load requirements, and performance specifications should be confirmed before fabrication.

For projects that require more than glass alone, insulated glass units can be coordinated with related glazing systems and architectural components.

This single-source approach can help simplify quoting, fabrication, compatibility review, and project coordination for architects, glaziers, contractors, and builders.
