Unlike most railing systems that utilize posts or base shoes, the Elegante uses standoffs to secure glass panels directly to the sides of the stringers or deck. This guardrail design complies with the 2006 IBC code for structural performance requirements. Need additional structural support for your handrailing system? No problem. We stock ½” thick stainless steel backing plates to attach glass panels to substructures. And these components even match our standoffs for a finished look. Normally, we generate the Elegante with ½” thick tempered or tempered laminated glass panels. However, you can order handrail and guardrail standoff systems with thicker glass panels to meet specific building codes.

Handrail & Guardrail Standoffs. Styles, Backing Plates & Complete Systems

We produce Elegante railing systems with standoffs and backing plates in 2 styles and diverse finishes. Measuring 2″ in diameter by 1 ¾” high, our standoffs are rendered with 304 or 316 alloy stainless steel. You can quote these handrail and guardrail standoffs with flat or domed cap styles. The Elegante’s stainless steel backing plates measure 4″ x 8″ and ship with predrilled holes to make your installation easier. Square shaped backing plates are offered to match flat cap standoffs, and round shaped backing plates are offered to match domed cap standoffs. You can also bid these railing components in custom dimensions and shapes. Handrail and guardrail standoffs and backing plates are supplied in stainless steel, brass, oil rubbed bronze and painted finishes.
